marianne_postMarianne Post was born in San Francisco, California and studied art and design at the University of California. She has worked for major corporations in San Francisco, San Diego and most recently for the University of California, Davis as principal artist.

Marianne begins her paintings on a white surface. She blocks in shapes of light and shadow with hard pastels, and then adds a wash of turpenoid or alcohol in a painterly approach to tone the panel. Following with soft pastels she builds the masses of color as they present themselves to her, and gradually the subject evolves.

As a native Californian she is charmed with the beauty of the familiar, yet ever changing California landscape. She is fascinated with patterns of atmospheric light found in large vistas as well as the endless color variations in intimate landscape subjects. Her work can be seen at the Chroma Gallery in Fair Oaks, California.
